About Maa Shailputri Puja
Maa Shailputri, the first manifestation of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. She is depicted holding a Trishul (trident) in her right hand and a lotus flower in her left hand, riding the sacred bull, Nandi. The name “Shailputri” means “Daughter of the Mountain” as she was born to King Himavat. She is also revered as Devi Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva and mother of Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya.
